Forward Your Shared Email in to Help Scout

Set up email forwarding from your current email provider to your Help Scout Inbox address.

In Help Scout, go to Manage > Inbox(es) > [Your Inbox] (if you see Connect Channels in the left sidebar, click into that) to copy the Help Scout Inbox address, then finish the forwarding setup with your email provider.

How you set up forwarding or redirection will depend on where your email is coming from.

Where is your email currently managed?

Forward or redirect from an Email Provider

We maintain step-by-step guides for the following providers:

Note: You can also import email history from a Google Workspace inbox. See Import Emails or Tickets Into Help Scout for more help with that.

Forward or redirect from a Host

You'll need your Help Scout Inbox address to set up forwarding from these hosts.

Other

We've searched for the help these providers have published to find their guides for forwarding email. Just follow their directions and forward the email to your Help Scout Inbox address.

You might need to reach out to their support for an assist if these directions don't work for you.

Note: ProtonMail does not offer any form of automatic forwarding or routing that will allow you to forward a custom email address in to Help Scout. You can still use Help Scout using the helpscoutapp.com address, but if your domain uses ProtonMail as your mail service, you will not be able to connect your domain email address to your inbox.

Import from Another Help Desk

You will need to still set up forwarding from your email provider or host as shown above to get new emails flowing into Help Scout. Most likely you already have forwarding in place for the other help desk, so you just need to switch it to your Help Scout Inbox address.

But if you're currently using one of the help desks that our partner Import2 supports, it's easy to import your past conversations into Help Scout.

See Import Emails or Tickets Into Help Scout for the full details!
