Schedule a Reply to Send Later

NEW Ever want to write a reply late at night, but don't necessarily want your customer to know that's when you were replying? Now you can schedule a reply to send later, letting you do the work when you have the time, without letting the customer know you were burning the midnight oil.

The send later feature allows you to compose a reply to a conversation, save it, then set a time for it to be sent later, if it meets the conditions.

This feature is available to all users on current plans with the ability to send replies using the Inbox experience.

Schedule a Reply

Just type in your reply to any conversation, and click the Send Later button (the arrow pointing right) just before the Send button at the bottom of the reply editor.

Schedule Options

Choose when you want to send the reply. Select from the initial options or type in an exact date. Use phrases such as Tomorrow, Next Week, This Friday, etc. to have the calculation done for you.

Conditions

  • Choose to send If no reply to only send the scheduled reply if your customer doesn't reply between the time you've set the schedule and the time it's set to. If the customer replies in that window, the scheduled time will be cleared, and the reply will become an unscheduled draft.
  • Choose the condition of Regardless to send your scheduled reply even if the customer replies between the time you schedule a reply and the scheduled time.

Click Save when you've set the time and conditions, and you're all set.

The reply will automatically be sent as the user that set the scheduled time when that time arrives.

Manage Scheduled Replies

You'll find a new folder called Later in your Inbox whenever there are any conversations that have a scheduled reply set.

Click into any conversation with a scheduled reply, and you'll see a green bar on the left side indicating this reply is scheduled in the future. You'll also see a Scheduled badge in the right corner of the thread, next to the time it's scheduled to go out.

Click the options menu (the 3 dots) next to the time. You'll find 3 options:

  • Send now — Sends the reply now and removes the scheduled time.
  • Edit — Edit the reply and/or the scheduled time to send.
  • Delete — Delete the scheduled reply. No reply will be sent to the conversation.

Edit a Scheduled Reply Time

Click into a conversation that has been scheduled and choose Edit from the options menu as shown above. Click the date and time you find below the reply editor and make changes to the scheduled time.

Choose Unschedule to remove the scheduled time completely.
